Malaysian electronics purveyor Senheng has a new device on its website from Samsung that hasn’t been officially announced just yet. The device is an international version of the Galaxy A9 Pro that launched in China earlier in 2016. The specs that are listed on Senheng are the same as those from the Chinese device with 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 6-inch screen, and large 5,000 mAh internal battery.
We first heard that the Galaxy A9 Pro was in the works back in January of this year not too long after CES 2016 wrapped up. Those first grumblings of the device suggested that it would only be for China and suggested ramped up internals compared to the standard Galaxy A9. One of the biggest differences between the standard Galaxy A9 and the new Pro version is battery size; the A9 Pro has a 5,000 mAh battery.
In early March, the A9 Pro was spied in China as it crossed TENAA packing 4GB of RAM and Android Marshmallow under the hood. The camera was also improved in the Pro. When the device first tuned up there was no indication that it would leave China. This new listing for an international version seems to indicate that it is coming outside of China.
It’s worth noting that Samsung's official Malaysian website doesn't list the A9 Pro. That could mean that Senheng is simply jumping the gun listing the smartphone on its website. The Malaysian and calls out a price of RM1,999, which would equate to about $500 here in the US. The phone doesn't exactly have a top of the line processor for that much money and the screen only offers full HD resolution. We have no word on if the Galaxy A9 Pro will come to other markets at this time.
