Vivo, the sister brand of Oppo and OnePlus, is quietly raking in sales. While far from well-known outside of China, Vivo managed to rank fifth in global sales in the first quarter of 2016, outranking Lenovo, LG, Xiaomi and other more established brands.
It’s obvious that Vivo’s strategy is working, and the Chinese company executes on it fast. Just six months after the launch of the X6, Vivo is ready to unveil the next generation in the series, the Vivo X7.
The Vivo X7 will be shown to the world on June 30, as per a teaser put up by the company. But thanks to the TENAA database and a leak from Chinese media, we already know what to expect in terms of specs and UI.
According to the TENAA listing, the Vivo X7 will feature a 5.2-inch Full HD AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 652 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage space, a 13MP rear camera, and a 2,930 mAh battery. The device itself will look rather generic, with that iPhone-esque vibe we’ve come to expect from phones designed primarily for the Chinese market.
As for the OS, it’s called FunTouch OS, it’s based on Lollipop, and it looks more like Apple’s iOS than Android. As you can see from this video.
We’ll bring you all the official details on the Vivo X7 – and the larger X7 Plus – later this week. Meanwhile, let us know what you think!
